The 90-year-old historic gem, located in the heart of Gallatin and currently known as Depot Square Events Center, has recently acquired a new owner.

Wayne Foreman, commercial supplier owner, began renting office space within the building over three years ago. In addition to needing extra space for the growth of his companies, Foreman also took over management of the event space earlier this year, which greatly increased the rented square footage. Former owner John Genung, construction and engineering project manager in Gallatin, closed the deal to transfer ownership last Monday.

“We want to make it a special place that really ties back into the community. It has a lot of cool architecture and neat history,” said Foreman. “It’s meant a lot to the community for the past 90 years, and I don’t want it be a flea market again.”

Along with the new purchase, Foreman has numerous plans for updates and renovations. Outside of the recent landscaping makeover, he has several ideas to enhance the aesthetic appeal and to further integrate its railroad history. Projects such as an outdoor patio area, a lengthy rocking chair-styled porch and a fresh full building paint job are in the works. Indoor improvements such as rail tie light fixtures and bridal suite innovations will make the event space more welcoming and picturesque.

In additional to renovating and beautifying, Foreman wants to assemble a historical display in recognition of its community value.

“You don’t want to forget where you came from. I’d love to find more old pictures of what the building used to look like to add more historical appreciation,” said Foreman. “If you’d like to contribute any memories or photos you have of the space via our website or Facebook, we’d love to display that further.”
