Celebrating its 90-year anniversary, Gallatin’s historical event center announces a grand reopening of their improved space, ideal for weddings, concerts and corporate functions.

Originally built in 1926 by Sloan Distributing Co., the Depot Square Event Space primarily functioned as a dry goods distribution center. The building has since been renovated, offering 9,800 square feet of space and featuring Gallatin’s largest dance floor at 1,400 square feet.

“Brides love this space because it has plenty of room to customize it to fit their needs, from the concrete floor, exposed beams and weathered brick interior,” said Patricia Jeffrey, venue coordinator. “People who have lived in or around Gallatin their entire lives are so happy when they come to the Depot Square now, whether it’s for a wedding, party, craft fair or charity function.”

Depot Square Event Space provides open seating for up to 500 guests with graveled parking for an estimated 400 vehicles and trailers. Additional improvements include a revamped upstairs lounge, fresh carpeting, and renovated restrooms.

Since the 1980s the owners have used the space for manufacturing, crafts and hobby space, professional offices and an event center. Several Depot events have included performances from Grand Opry friends, performers and song writers as well as the Gallatin Cowboy Church.

“It is industrial with a modern feel, but still gives them a sense of nostalgia,” said Patricia Jeffrey, venue coordinator “This historical site in the heart of Gallatin is very versatile. It has been transformed into shabby chic, old world Paris, laid-back country, diamond elegance, under the sea, and so much more!”

The historic building was constructed with unique metal roof trusses, shipped from Bethlehem Steel Works in West Virginia. The concrete support columns and exterior wall framing techniques lend a rustic feel. The back warehouse currently houses office space for CDF Distributors, an online supplier of commercial doors.
